Augmentin contains two different medicines: amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Amoxicillin belongs to a group of medicines called penicillin and clavulanic acid. It is used to treat infections caused by certain types of bacteria, such as sinusitis and ear infections. Amoxicillin is used to treat other types of bacterial infections, such as respiratory infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infections. Clavulanate potassium belongs to a group of medicines called potassium-sparing diuretics, which are used to treat high blood levels of salt in the body.
Augmentin belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics.
Augmentin is also used to treat certain types of skin infections such as ringworm, cellulitis, and a skin infection called cutaneous infection. These infections can be caused by a wide variety of bacteria.
Augmentin is used to treat infections of the skin (eg, on the fingers and toes) caused by certain types of bacteria.

Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet is best taken with a meal to reduce the chance of a stomach upset. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time daily will help you remember to take it. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but you should always complete an entire course of this antibiotic as your doctor prescribes. Please do not stop taking it until you have finished, even when you feel better. If you stop taking it early, some bacteria may survive, and the infection may return or worsen.
